I thought it would be fun to be part of the football betting that my fraternity was a part of. I usually don’t bet on sports but all the guys were getting involved and I decided to join them. We all chipped in to the pot. Everyone brought munchies to share and we settled in and began watching the games to wait and see which was the best team and who would win. It could get pretty loud and rowdy with so many of the guys rooting for our team and booing the other. The exciting was building. That in itself was a new experience for me as I was an only child and watched the game with just my dad so it was a pretty quiet time. My dad always got the best-priced tickets to all of the games. It was a pretty close game and you could just feel the tension in the room getting stronger, but in the end our team won and of course our pot grew and I ended up making double my money back. It was such a fun time. I don’t think I will have to think too hard next time when they ask to be part of something like this. Or maybe I was just lucky this time.

I hear that sports handicapping is illegal in most states. It makes sense since it is considered gambling. I have seen information on the computer lately with regards to sports handicapping and was wondering where it would be legal. But in a city like Las Vegas it is ok to be part of the gambling scene. I actually just bought the best-priced tickets to Vegas. Even these online betting sites have a disclaimer on the bottom saying you need to live in a certain state in order to be part of the gambling fun. I honestly don’t think that anyone would know but just as a precaution the company needs to list that on there. I am sure that if by chance somehow someone got caught gambling in the wrong state, they would get a big fine and maybe even arrested. I’m not sure if the consequence is that severe but it could be and you really wouldn’t want to find out by getting caught and having to suffer any consequences at all. So just make sure that while you are having fun, play it safe and make sure it is legal in the state your are gambling in. I am sure you can get information through some government sites dealing with gambling issues.

My friend Dan was so excited with regards to his job. He was put in charge of the big move to his hometown. The company he works for was moving to a bigger city where they hoped their business would flourish. He knew there would be a lot of hard work involved but he was sure he could handle it. Since he was raised in New York, he was confident that his experiences there would aid him in this relocation. He had no problem with finding furniture movers that could accommodate his needs. He even had all the utilities turned on so when he the telephones and machinery arrived everything would ready for him to set up. He had special lighting put in and had painters come in and decorate in the company’s logo colors. He thought things were going smoothly until he spoke with his company attorney. Was all the paperwork filled out properly? Did you give any thought to relocation tax compliance? The government is very strict on companies following the proper procedures. Dan got on-line immediately and found a company that has experience with this aspect of relocation. This was a side of relocation he would have never thought of and was glad he spoke with the company attorney before any problems arose.

No matter what good intentions you may have, sometimes something goes wrong. I know it happened to me. I know I was spending a lot of money but I also knew I was making enough money to cover my expenses. I was excited about having my first baby. I walked through the stores and aahed and oohed over everything I saw. I ended up buying so many cute things I was sure I would need for the new addition to my family. What I didn’t count on was having complications with my pregnancy. I had to take a leave from my job much earlier than I had first planned. My employer was very kind but this meant I had no income for a few months. My health insurance covered a lot of our medical expenses but because of the problems I had, it left me with a big chunk of debt I had to pay out of my own pocket. My deductibles were high and my co-payments to the specialist were many. Before I could recover and return to work, I was receiving harassment letters from my creditors. With a new baby I didn’t have time or the energy to work on this problem without help. I needed someone to work with my creditors for me. I inquired as to where to turn and found an agency that is very familiar with the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act). This Act regulates how collection agencies go about collecting from debtors. If you are not knowledgeable about these laws some collection agencies will try whatever means they feel like, whether legal or not, to collect from you. Knowing your rights is very important.
