Periodontal Disease Education

There is no doubt about it. We all live incredibly busy lives. With jobs, a family, friends, possibly volunteer work and hobbies, no one has time for the more mundane functions of everyday life. You would have to live under a rock to not realize that this on the go mentality is part of the reason most of the industrialized world is facing an obesity and health crisis. Just like everything else health related, it isn’t uncommon for periodontal disease care to be overlooked as well. However this one dental concern you definitely want to take seriously. Dental disease affects over 80% of the world’s adult population at some point in their lives and is the leading reason for dental appliances like bridges and dentures. If you want to keep your teeth your entire life, it’s time to brush up on your dental hygiene skills and knowledge.

Okay, let’s start with what causes gum disease. Many people think this dreaded disease is caused by poor dental hygiene, this actually isn’t true. Not brushing your teeth or caring for your gums can certainly lead to dental disease, but the real culprit in the gingivitis case is a bacterium. We, as humans, are supposed to have bacteria in our mouths and bodies, but when it gets out of control, dental disease and all of its unpleasant buddies is usually the result.

Just as side note, if you are considering using a teeth whitening product, whether it is all natural or not, and are concerned about the health of your teeth and gums, make sure you check with your dentist before going ahead with your plan. Even the gentlest whitening product can be harmful if your teeth aren’t healthy.

In the beginning stages of gum disease, you will notice an increased sensitivity of the teeth and gums as well as potential bleeding during brushing and flossing. It is also common to have chronic bad breath at this stage. You will want to get help with your problem before it gets any worse and costs you big time in serious damage to your smile and dental health.

Taking the time to learn about periodontal disease and exploring the possibilities of all natural dental products is a great way to increase your odds of a healthy mouth all of your life.

THE REPO MAN

I try and try and try to explain to every girl I meet that I work for one of those relocation companies. Yet, every single time they think they hear collection companies instead of relocation companies. Of course there’s no such thing as a collection company so they think it’s a collection agency. That’s right. Women seem to think that I’m a repo man, breaking into houses to repossess computers, TV’s, ovens, and fridges. They also think that I have my co-worker distract them while I break into their car, hotwire it, and drive it away off to the junkyard or where ever repo men leave repossessed cars. No, no, no! I work for a company that helps other companies relocate to new offices and facilities in a new neighborhood, city, state, or even country. Mostly, my company handles moves across cities and sometimes states. It has nothing to do with taking back things people can’t make payments for. I have no idea why women can’t listen to me and hear me clearly. Maybe it’s me or maybe I’m underestimating the fact that most people don’t know what relocation companies are and do. You’d think me explaining it would make good conversation though.

THE HUMAN COST

Politicians try to put a dollar figure on it all. They have nice titles for it. But in the end it’s the human cost. What lives are disrupted, who loses their homes and their cars and their employment. So, yes, you can put dollars to actual disaster recovery, but attaching a figure to the devastation that some hurricane or tornado or flood or even terrorist action is virtually impossible. That won’t stop some on both sides of the aisle from trying, however. The bigger the dollar figure they quote as coming back to the area the better they think it makes them sound. They always have their eyes on the ballot box and the next election. But when the dollar figures don’t pan out, and it’s much less than what they were actually talking about, it’s too late. The election is over, they are back in office, and they just brush over the subject. Some try to hold their feet to the fire, but the truth be told, is that once the problem is past attention spans are short. What do the politicians not see and the media is the families and the people who move away and never return. Their story is lost. It’s seems like it’s just too bad for them.
